The sequel to the blockbuster online multiplayer war Battlefield franchise, EA and developer Digital Illusions are taking the battle to another realm with a modern-war era edition. Players from the United States, China and the Middle East Coalition (all armed with realistic armarments and vehicles) will all be represented in harrowing battles for a massive number of online players (more than any of the previous Battlefield titles). The new game engine offers vastly improved visuals, physics and sound, plus a dynamic stage limiting system that scales the size of the online battlefield according to how many players are logged on. In Battlefield 2: Special Forces, players choose to fight as one of six different Special Forces soldiers: Navy SEALs, British SAS, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, Rebel groups and insurgents. Armed with the latest special forces weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 10 new vehicles to engage in major conflicts with up to 64 players. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to continue to rise through the ranks. The material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive. Team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. In Battlefield 2: Euro Force, the European Army joins the Battlefield fray for the first time on PC. Complete with seven new weapons and four new vehicles, the European Army will be sent into battle against MEC and Chinese forces on three brand new maps. "Operation Smoke Screen" takes place amidst the burning wreckage of an oil field on fire. "The Great Wall of China" will see Chinese Forces attempting to repel a European attack in the shadow of the ancient landmark. "Taraba Quarry" takes place in a large canyon which holds a vital tactical advantage. Battlefield 2: Armored Fury adds three new maps, all set in the rural heartland of America where the US forces defend their homeland from Chinese and MEC forces. This Booster Pack will also introduce two new vehicle classes: Attack Jets with the ability to use rocket pods and cluster bombs, and agile Scout Choppers which will reveal nearby enemies. "Midnight Sun" takes place on the Alaskan border, where Chinese forces make landfall. "Operation Harvest" will take the player to the vast open plains of Pennsylvania where only the expert use of air and armor will assure victory. "Operation Road Rage" sees all-out tank warfare on the freeways of America.
